Forum Birmingham
52-54 Dale End, Birmingham, B4 7LS
Forum Birmingham is the latest incarnation of a purpose built entertainment building that has been a part of Birmingham’s musical heritage since the 1960’s when it was first opened as The Ballroom and later reincarnated as the Top Rank Suite, which stood proudly as a beacon for the city’s culture for over 20 years.
In the 80’s, it became known as The Hummingbird and as music exploded into the 90’s, it sat as the pioneer for pushing the sounds of House and Rave music in the city, as well as hosting some of the most legendary live performances of the decade from bands like Nirvana, The Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth until its closure in ’94. Reopening at the start of the new millennium named “The Academy”, Dale End and featuring performances from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Ed Sheeran, once again it became the beating heart of Birmingham’s musical culture.
Now, this unmistakable, incomparable and historical venue is once more reborn as Forum Birmingham. Bringing top level live comedy, music and sports, hosting corporate and leisure events as well as opening weekly club nights catering for the diverse demographic of the city, Forum Birmingham is a return to independent, international and innovative entertainment to stamp England’s second city on the global map as trend setters and originators for culture again.
With 2020 being a year when arts and culture venues have struggled to survive let alone offer any performances, the formation of this new entertainment hub is something to celebrate and look forward to.
When Birmingham reopens its doors, Forum Birmingham will be waiting with open arms.
This is Forum, Birmingham.
